1. What we mean by cookies
“Cookies” here covers cookies and similar browser storage technologies, including localStorage and sessionStorage. They are small pieces of data a site stores in your browser so it can remember something between requests or between visits.
2. What we use them for
2.1 Strictly necessary
These are required for the service to function and cannot be switched off without breaking it. They keep you signed in by holding your session token, protect against abuse, and maintain basic security. On the study platform, your authentication token is held in browser storage so you are not asked to sign in on every page.
2.2 Functional
These remember your choices so the platform behaves consistently. They include your study preferences such as MCQ or 1-Liner mode, your content filter such as past-paper or general questions, your position in a study session so you can resume, and — if you study as a guest — your attempts and progress held locally on your device.
2.3 Analytics
These help us understand how the platform is used in aggregate: which pages are visited, which features are used, where people get stuck, and which errors occur. We use this to decide what to fix and what to build. Analytics data is used in aggregate and is not sold.
2.4 Advertising
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. There are no ads on the platform and no plans to introduce them.
3. Third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by services we use rather than by us directly. These include our product analytics provider, and Google where you choose to sign in with a Google account. Those providers process data under their own privacy terms.
4. Guest study storage
If you study without creating an account, your attempts are stored in your browser on that device only. Clearing your browser data will erase them. Creating an account is what moves your progress into your profile so it survives across sessions and devices.
5. Managing cookies
Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies and site data through its settings. You can also use private browsing. Be aware that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in, and clearing site data will remove guest study progress held on your device.
