Why CSS MPT is the CSS use of this bank

CSS MPT is the only MCQ exam standing between you and CSS written. Fail it and that year’s written papers are closed to you; pass it and you still have to write. The score is not added to merit.

FPSC’s published pattern is 200 questions in 200 minutes. General Abilities (60) and English (50) are more than half the paper. Practise those first, then General Knowledge, Urdu and Islamiat.

Registration windows, paper dates and result dates are published only on fpsc.gov.pk. This site does not list them.

FPSC’s published CSS FAQ: MPT attempts are not counted towards the three written attempts; the result is qualifying only and is valid for that year’s written examination only. Re-read the FAQ on fpsc.gov.pk if you are repeating.

Official marks (FPSC syllabus language)

FPSC groups the paper as five blocks totalling 200. Prep sites often split General Knowledge 50 into Pakistan Affairs, Current Affairs and a short GK remainder, and call General Abilities “GSA”. Both namings map to the same subjects here. Confirm the outline on the current FPSC notice.

CSS MPT — common questions

What is the CSS MPT?
MPT is FPSC’s MCQ-Based Preliminary Test — a compulsory screening test. Only candidates who qualify it may appear in that year’s CSS written examination. Confirm the current wording on fpsc.gov.pk.
What are CSS MPT passing marks?
FPSC’s published CSS FAQ states at least 33% — 66 out of 200. That is not 66%. Always re-read the notice for your cycle; FPSC can revise the threshold.
Is there negative marking in CSS MPT?
FPSC’s published MPT pattern is no negative marking: a wrong answer scores zero and does not reduce your total. Confirm on the instructions printed with your paper and on the current notice. PMS GK is different — it does use a wrong-answer penalty.
Does CSS MPT count as a CSS attempt?
FPSC’s published CSS FAQ states that MPT attempts are not counted towards the three CSS written-examination attempts. An attempt is counted when you appear in the written examination. Confirm on fpsc.gov.pk.
Does the MPT score go into CSS merit?
FPSC’s published FAQ states that the MPT result is qualifying only — it is not counted in the final result. A high MPT score does not improve merit; a pass only lets you sit the written papers.
Is an MPT pass valid for more than one CSS year?
FPSC’s published FAQ states that the MPT result is valid for that year’s CSS written examination only. A pass does not carry forward. Confirm on the current FAQ if you are repeating.
How many questions are in CSS MPT, and how long is it?
The published pattern is 200 multiple-choice questions in 200 minutes, one mark each. Confirm both figures on the FPSC MPT notice for your cycle.
What is the CSS MPT fee?
FPSC publishes the MPT fee with each cycle on fpsc.gov.pk. We do not list a fee here because it can change with the notice.
When is the next CSS MPT?
Only FPSC can confirm that. We do not publish registration windows, paper dates or result dates. Open fpsc.gov.pk and read the current MPT notice.
Can I clear CSS with MPT MCQ practice alone?
No. MPT only decides whether you sit CSS written. Merit is written papers, psychological assessment and viva. Use this bank for MPT and for the factual base of compulsory papers — not as a substitute for essay and précis.
