This follows PPSC’s published General Knowledge outline, which is Paper I of the 2027 scheme: a 100-mark MCQ paper. The full 11-paper pattern is on the PMS GK overview. Detailed syllabi for every subject are due on ppsc.gop.pk by the end of October 2026.

Syllabus questions
What is the full form of PMS?
PMS stands for Provincial Management Service. In Punjab, the PMS exam is conducted by the PPSC (Punjab Public Service Commission) to recruit officers such as Assistant Commissioners and Section Officers. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also recruits a Provincial Management Service through KPPSC. Sindh and Balochistan recruit their provincial civil services through SPSC and BPSC.
What is the PMS 2027 exam pattern?
PPSC has revised the syllabi for the Combined Competitive Examination expected to be held in 2027. There are 11 papers. The written examination is 1,100 marks. Interview/viva voce is 300 marks. The grand total is 1,400. Papers I and II are MCQs of 100 marks (General Knowledge, and Mental Ability & Reasoning). Papers III to V are subjective English and Urdu papers of 100 marks. Papers VI to X are MCQs plus subjective, 100 marks each, with 25 marks of MCQs and 75 marks subjective. Paper XI is one optional subject, 100 marks, subjective, from a list of 30. Qualifying marks for the Mental Ability and Reasoning Test are 33%. Detailed syllabi for all subjects will be uploaded by the end of October 2026.
What changed in the Punjab PMS pattern for 2027?
The earlier Punjab outline was six compulsory papers and three optional papers, with 1,200 written marks. PPSC’s press release for the examination expected in 2027 sets 11 papers, 1,100 written marks and a 300-mark interview, with one optional subject.
Do PMS GK past papers still help for 2027?
Yes. General Knowledge stays Paper I, a 100-mark MCQ paper, so the 2020–2026 past papers still match that paper. Papers VI to X add 25 MCQ marks each, which is 125 marks. With the new 100-mark Mental Ability & Reasoning paper, that is 225 MCQ marks besides Paper I.
What is the PMS GK syllabus?
On the published PPSC outline, Paper I General Knowledge is a 100-mark objective paper: current affairs, physical and biological sciences, computer and information technology, basic mathematics and reasoning, and standing general facts. The syllabus map on this page links each of those areas to a subject. PPSC will upload detailed syllabi for the 2027 scheme by the end of October 2026.

What is the age limit for Punjab PMS?
The Government of Punjab has raised the upper age limit to 32 for the PMS (BS-17) combined competitive examination that PPSC conducts in 2026 and 2027. The Services and General Administration Department notified this as a one-time, two-year relaxation, in force from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2027.
What is PMS GK?
In the 2027 scheme, General Knowledge is Paper I, a 100-mark MCQ paper. It is not a substitute for the subjective English, Urdu and optional papers. The published PPSC outline deducts 0.25 per wrong answer on that objective paper.
Is PMS GK a screening test?
People search “PMS screening test” for this paper, but in Punjab it is a compulsory written paper, not a PPSC one-paper job advertisement. Assistant Director, Inspector and Clerk tests are different exams that reuse much of the same general bank. Always read the advertisement in front of you.
Is there negative marking in PMS GK?
The published PPSC outline deducts 0.25 mark for each wrong answer in the objective General Knowledge paper (Paper I). That is not “25 marks deducted per question”. A blank answer is safer than a wild guess. CSS MPT has no negative marking. The 2027 press release sets a 33% qualifying mark for the Mental Ability and Reasoning Test and does not give a deduction per wrong answer for that paper.
Does this prepare the whole of PMS?
No. The 2027 scheme still has subjective English and Urdu, 75-mark subjective portions in Islamic Studies, Pakistan Studies I and II, International Affairs and Economy, one optional subject, and a 300-mark interview. When is the next PMS exam?
Only PPSC can confirm that. We do not publish PMS advertisement dates, last dates to apply or paper dates. Open ppsc.gop.pk and read the current combined competitive examination notice.
Is PMS GK the same as CSS MPT?
Same factual core, different exam. CSS MPT is FPSC’s 200-question qualifying screen with no negative marking. PMS GK is PPSC’s 100-mark objective compulsory paper with a wrong-answer penalty. Practise the overlapping subjects, then sit each paper with its own marking rule.
