Tafsir al-Tabari, also known as "Jami' al-Bayan fi Ta'wil al-Qur'an," is the work of Imam Muhammad ibn Jarir al-Tabari (224-310 AH). It was written in the style of tafsir bi al-ma'thur and was completed over a long period of seven years. It is considered one of the oldest and most authoritative tafsirs, and many later tafsirs have benefited from it.
Imam al-Tabari authored this tafsir between 283 AH and 290 AH. He used to write forty pages daily and would ask his students if they had the capacity to write such a volume. Tafsir al-Tabari consists of thirty volumes and is regarded by Ahl al-Sunnah as the most reliable tafsir bi al-ma'thur.
