Explanation

The Holy Quran is the final revealed book of Allah, consisting of 114 Surahs (chapters) of varying lengths. These Surahs are broadly classified into Makki (revealed before Hijrah) and Madani (revealed after Hijrah). The total number of Surahs is unanimously agreed upon by all Muslim scholars and is a fundamental fact about the Quran's structure.

Good to know

The 114 Surahs of the Holy Quran are arranged roughly by length, with the longest Surah (Al-Baqarah) at the beginning and the shortest Surahs towards the end. The Quran is also divided into 30 parts called Juz (or Para) to facilitate recitation, particularly during the month of Ramadan. Each Surah, except Surah At-Tawbah, begins with the Basmalah ("Bismillah-ir-Rahman-ir-Raheem").
