Explanation

Surah Al-Alaq (also known as Iqra) holds special significance as it contains the very first revelation received by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) — the first five verses. Despite being the first revealed, it is placed as the 96th Surah in the current compiled order (Mushaf), which follows a different arrangement based on the guidance of the Prophet (PBUH) and the compilation by the companions, primarily ordered by Surah length rather than chronological revelation.

Good to know

Surah Al-Alaq is a Makki Surah consisting of 19 verses. The first five verses were revealed in the Cave of Hira through Angel Jibreel, beginning with the command "Iqra" (Read). The remaining verses were revealed later concerning Abu Jahl's opposition to the Prophet's (PBUH) prayer at the Kaaba. The Surah is also referred to as Surah Iqra and is the first Surah in the order of revelation.
