Quick fact: Prophet Musa (A.S) was adopted by Pharaoh's wife Asiya who found him floating in a basket on the river Nile.

Explanation

When Prophet Musa (A.S) was an infant, Allah inspired his mother to place him in a basket and set him afloat on the Nile to protect him from Pharaoh's decree of killing all newborn Israelite boys. The basket was discovered by Asiya, the wife of Pharaoh, who was a righteous and believing woman. Despite being married to the tyrant Pharaoh, she loved the child and convinced Pharaoh to let her keep him, thus raising Musa (A.S) in the royal palace. The Quran honors Asiya as one of the four most perfect women in history alongside Maryam, Khadija, and Fatima (R.A).

Good to know

Asiya bint Muzahim was the wife of Pharaoh during the time of Prophet Musa (A.S). She was a secret believer in Allah and is highly revered in Islam for her faith and righteousness. The Quran mentions her in Surah At-Tahrim (66:11) where she prayed to Allah for a house in Paradise and to be saved from Pharaoh and his tyranny. She is counted among the four greatest women of all time according to a hadith in Sahih Bukhari.
