Quick fact: The single compilation of the Qur'an during the caliphate of Abu Bakr (R.A) is called Jamʿ-ul-Qur'an.

Explanation

Jamʿ-ul-Qur'an refers to the first official compilation of the Qur'an into a single book form (mushaf), undertaken during the caliphate of Abu Bakr (R.A) on the advice of Umar (R.A) after many Huffaz were martyred in the Battle of Yamama. Zaid bin Thabit (R.A) was entrusted with this monumental task, and the compiled manuscript was later kept with Hafsa (R.A) after Abu Bakr's passing.

Good to know

The compilation was prompted by the martyrdom of around 70 Huffaz (memorizers of the Qur'an) in the Battle of Yamama. Umar (R.A) suggested to Abu Bakr (R.A) that the Qur'an be compiled into a single book to preserve it. Initially hesitant as the Prophet (PBUH) had not done so, Abu Bakr (R.A) eventually agreed and appointed Zaid bin Thabit (R.A), a chief scribe of the revelation, to lead the compilation effort.
