Hazrat Fatima bint Asad was the wife of Hazrat Abu Talib and the mother of Hazrat Ali (A.S). She holds a unique distinction in Islamic history as she was the only woman to give birth inside the Holy Kaaba. She was among the early converts to Islam and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) held her in very high regard, once shrouding her in his own shirt and lying in her grave before her burial.
Hazrat Fatima bint Asad belonged to the noble Hashimite clan of Quraysh and was the daughter of Asad ibn Hashim. After the death of the Prophet's mother Amina, she cared for the young Muhammad (PBUH) and treated him like her own son. She migrated to Madina with the Prophet (PBUH) and passed away there around the 4th year of Hijrah. The Prophet (PBUH) personally supervised her funeral arrangements.
