Hazrat Yousuf (Joseph, A.S) was the beloved son of Prophet Yaqoob (Jacob, A.S), who was the son of Prophet Ishaq (Isaac, A.S), who was the son of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham, A.S). This lineage places Hazrat Yousuf in the great prophetic chain of Bani Israel. His story is narrated in detail in Surah Yousuf (Chapter 12 of the Quran), which is unique as it presents the entire narrative of a single prophet in one continuous account.
Hazrat Yaqoob (A.S) had twelve sons, among whom Hazrat Yousuf (A.S) and his younger brother Binyamin were from his wife Rahil. Hazrat Yousuf was known for his extraordinary beauty and was gifted with the ability to interpret dreams. His brothers, out of jealousy, threw him into a well, leading to his eventual journey to Egypt where he later became a high-ranking official. The entire family was reunited years later when the brothers came to Egypt seeking grain during a famine.
