Explanation

The Battle of Badr was the first major battle in Islamic history, fought in 2 AH. The Muslims were only 313 in number, poorly equipped, and facing a Quraysh army of around 1000 well-armed men. In response to the Prophet's (PBUH) supplication, Allah sent 1000 angels to reinforce the believers, as mentioned in Surah Al-Anfal (8:9). This divine assistance turned the battle decisively in favor of the Muslims.

Good to know

The arrival of angels at Badr is explicitly mentioned in the Quran in Surah Al-Anfal, verse 9, where Allah promises to reinforce the believers with a thousand angels following one another. The angels, led by Jibreel (A.S), fought alongside the Muslims, striking the necks and fingertips of the disbelievers. This miraculous help is considered one of the clearest signs of divine support for the early Muslim community and is a key reason for the decisive Muslim victory despite being outnumbered.
