Explanation

The Battle of Badr, fought on 17th Ramadan, 2 AH (624 CE), was the first large-scale military confrontation between the Muslims and the Quraysh of Makkah. Before Badr, there had been smaller expeditions (saraya), but Badr was the first full-scale battle. It holds immense significance as Allah referred to it as "Yawm al-Furqan" (the Day of Criterion) in the Quran, marking the decisive distinction between truth and falsehood.

Despite being outnumbered, the Muslims achieved a decisive victory, with 70 Quraysh leaders killed and 70 taken as prisoners. The battle is mentioned in Surah Al-Anfal and Surah Aal-e-Imran.
