Explanation

A Manzil (plural: Manazil) is a division of the Quran into seven roughly equal parts, designed to facilitate the recitation of the entire Quran over one week. This system is particularly useful for those who wish to complete the Quran in seven days, such as during the month of Ramadan. Each Manzil contains a collection of Surahs, and the division is based on the length and thematic grouping of the chapters rather than strict equality in verses.

Good to know

The seven Manzils are also sometimes referred to as the seven stages or stations of the Quran. This division is distinct from the 30 Juz (Paras) and the 114 Surahs. The Manzil system is traditionally attributed to the Companions of the Prophet (PBUH) and has been preserved in many printed copies of the Quran, especially in the Indian subcontinent, where it is commonly indicated in the margins.
