Explanation

The name 'Ahmed' appears only once in the Quran, in Surah As-Saff (61:6), where Prophet Isa (A.S) foretells the coming of a messenger named 'Ahmad' after him. This is a reference to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), as 'Ahmad' and 'Muhammad' are both derived from the same Arabic root word 'Hamd' meaning praise.

Good to know

The name 'Muhammad' is mentioned four times in the Quran (Surah Aal-e-Imran 3:144, Surah Al-Ahzab 33:40, Surah Muhammad 47:2, and Surah Al-Fath 48:29). In contrast, the variant 'Ahmed' appears only once in Surah As-Saff, verse 6. This distinction is often tested in Islamic studies exams to assess knowledge of Quranic references to the Prophet (PBUH).
