Quick fact: Talha ibn Ubaidullah (R.A) was given the title 'The Living Martyr' after Ghazwa-e-Uhud.

Explanation

During the Battle of Uhud, Talha ibn Ubaidullah (R.A) displayed extraordinary bravery in defending the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He shielded the Prophet with his own body, sustaining over 70 wounds, including a severed finger. Due to his immense sacrifice and the fact that he survived the battle despite injuries that would have killed most men, the Prophet (PBUH) himself gave him the title "Al-Shaheed al-Hayy" meaning "The Living Martyr."

Good to know

He was among the earliest converts to Islam and participated in all major battles alongside the Prophet (PBUH).
