Quick fact: The Six Books of Hadith, highly regarded in Islam, are collectively known as Siha e Sitta.

Explanation

Siha e Sitta (also called Al-Kutub al-Sittah) refers to the six most authentic and canonical collections of Hadith in Sunni Islam. These six books were compiled by six eminent scholars: Imam Bukhari, Imam Muslim, Imam Abu Dawud, Imam Tirmidhi, Imam Nasa'i, and Imam Ibn Majah. Among them, Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim are considered the most authentic and are together referred to as Sahihayn.

Good to know

The six compilers of Siha e Sitta lived during the 3rd century Hijri (9th century CE). Sahih Bukhari contains approximately 7,275 hadiths (with repetitions), while Sahih Muslim contains around 4,000 hadiths without repetition. The other four books — Sunan Abu Dawud, Jami' al-Tirmidhi, Sunan al-Nasa'i, and Sunan Ibn Majah — are also highly respected and form the remaining four of the six canonical collections.
