Explanation

Hazrat Haroon (AS) was the elder brother of Hazrat Musa (AS). Both were prophets sent to Bani Israel. When Hazrat Musa (AS) was commanded by Allah to go to Pharaoh, he made dua for his brother Haroon to be appointed as his helper and companion in prophethood because Haroon was more eloquent in speech. Allah accepted this dua and granted prophethood to Hazrat Haroon (AS) as well, making them brother prophets who worked together for the guidance of their people.

Good to know

The Quran mentions Hazrat Haroon (AS) by name around 20 times, often alongside Hazrat Musa (AS). Their story is prominently featured in Surah Taha, where Musa (AS) prays: "And appoint for me a helper from my family, Haroon, my brother. Increase through him my strength and let him share my task" (20:29-32). Both were descendants of Hazrat Yaqub (AS) through the lineage of Levi. Hazrat Haroon (AS) was approximately three years older than Hazrat Musa (AS) and served as his vizier and deputy during his absence.
