Quick fact: The book 'Mustadrak Hakim' was authored by Hakim al-Nishapuri (Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Hakim al-Nishapuri).

Explanation

Mustadrak Hakim, formally known as 'Al-Mustadrak ala al-Sahihayn', is a hadith collection compiled by Hakim al-Nishapuri (d. 405 AH). He intended to collect authentic hadith that met the criteria of Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim but were not included in their Sahih collections. However, later scholars like Imam Dhahabi reviewed the work and noted that some narrations in it are weak or fabricated, so it is not considered on the same level of authenticity as Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim.

Good to know

Hakim al-Nishapuri, also known as Ibn al-Bayyi, was a renowned Persian hadith scholar born in Nishapur in 321 AH (933 CE). He was appointed as a judge (Qadi) and is often referred to as 'al-Hakim' due to this position. He passed away in 405 AH (1014 CE).
