Quick fact: The companion who narrated the most Hadith is Hazrat Abu Hurairah (R.A), with over 5,300 narrations.

Explanation

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (R.A) accepted Islam in 7 AH and dedicated himself entirely to the company of the Prophet (PBUH), spending nearly three years in his constant companionship. His exceptional memory, combined with the Prophet's special dua for him, enabled him to preserve and transmit the largest number of Ahadith among all companions. Despite his relatively short time with the Prophet, his devotion and focus on memorizing Hadith made him the most prolific narrator.

Good to know

Hazrat Abu Hurairah's (R.A) original name was Abdur Rahman ibn Sakhr Ad-Dausi, and the Prophet (PBUH) gave him the kunya "Abu Hurairah" (father of the kitten) due to his fondness for cats. He narrated 5,374 Ahadith, and over 800 companions and successors narrated from him. The second most prolific narrator among companions is Hazrat Abdullah ibn Umar (R.A), followed by Hazrat Anas ibn Malik (R.A) and Hazrat Aisha (R.A).
