Quick fact: Hazrat Umm-e-Salma (R.A) gave crucial advice to the Prophet (PBUH) during the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah when the Companions hesitated to obey his command to shave their heads and sacrifice animals.

Explanation

When the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah was signed, the Companions were disheartened by its apparently humiliating terms and hesitated when the Prophet (PBUH) instructed them to shave their heads and offer sacrifices to exit the state of Ihram. Hazrat Umm-e-Salma (R.A), who was accompanying the Prophet (PBUH), wisely advised him to go out, perform the rituals himself without saying a word, and the Companions would follow. The Prophet (PBUH) acted on her counsel, and upon seeing him, all the Companions immediately followed suit, resolving the tense situation.

Good to know

Hazrat Umm-e-Salma (R.A), whose real name was Hind bint Abi Umayya, was one of the most learned and wise wives of the Prophet (PBUH). She was previously married to Abu Salma (R.A) and had migrated to Abyssinia with him. After his martyrdom at Uhud, the Prophet (PBUH) married her. She is known for her intelligence, wisdom, and deep understanding of Islamic teachings, and narrated numerous hadith. The Treaty of Hudaybiyyah took place in 6 AH (628 CE) at a place called Hudaybiyyah near Makkah.
