Quick fact: The woman from Banu Mustaliq whom Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) married was Hazrat Juwayriya bint al-Harith (RA).

Explanation

Hazrat Juwayriya bint al-Harith (RA) was the daughter of al-Harith ibn Abi Dirar, the chief of the Banu Mustaliq tribe. She was taken as a captive during the Ghazwa of Banu Mustaliq (also known as Ghazwa Muraysi') in 5 AH. The Prophet (PBUH) freed her and married her, and as a result of this marriage, the Companions freed nearly one hundred families of Banu Mustaliq who had been taken captive, saying they were now relatives of the Prophet (PBUH) by marriage.

Good to know

The marriage of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to Hazrat Juwayriya (RA) took place in 5 AH after the expedition against Banu Mustaliq. Her original name was Barrah, which the Prophet (PBUH) changed to Juwayriya. She was known for her piety and narrated several hadith. She passed away in 50 AH at the age of 65 and was buried in Jannat al-Baqi. Her marriage is particularly significant as it led to the emancipation of many captives from her tribe.
