Explanation

Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam and is obligatory once in a lifetime for those who are physically and financially capable. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, "Whoever performs Hajj for the sake of Allah and does not utter any obscene speech or do any evil deed, will go back (free of sin) as his mother bore him." This hadith emphasizes that a sincerely performed Hajj serves as a complete purification of one's sins, much like water cleanses physical impurities.

Good to know

The analogy of Hajj washing away sins like water is derived from authentic hadith literature. The Prophet (PBUH) likened the reward of an accepted Hajj to nothing less than Paradise itself. Hajj is performed in the month of Dhul-Hijjah and involves specific rituals including Ihram, Tawaf, Sa'i, standing at Arafat, and stoning the Jamarat, all of which symbolize submission, sacrifice, and spiritual renewal.
