Explanation

Ziarat-e-Tawaf refers to the farewell Tawaf (Tawaf al-Wida) or the visiting Tawaf performed during Hajj. According to the Hanafi school of thought, Ziarat-e-Tawaf (also known as Tawaf al-Ifadah or Tawaf al-Ziyarah) is a Faraz (obligatory) act of Hajj, without which the Hajj remains incomplete. This Tawaf is performed after the stay at Arafat and Muzdalifah and is one of the essential pillars (arkan) of Hajj.

Good to know

Hajj consists of three types of obligations: Faraz (obligatory pillars), Wajib (necessary acts), and Sunnat (recommended acts). The Faraz acts of Hajj include Ihram, Wuquf at Arafat, and Ziarat-e-Tawaf (Tawaf al-Ifadah). If a Faraz is missed, the Hajj is invalid. Wajib acts like Sa'ee between Safa and Marwah or Rami al-Jamarat can be compensated with a sacrifice (dam). Tawaf al-Wida is considered Wajib, not Faraz, and should not be confused with Ziarat-e-Tawaf.
