Hazrat Usman (RA), the third Caliph of Islam, was martyred while he was reciting the Holy Quran in his home. Hazrat Usman (RA) was martyred on 18th Dhul-Hijjah, 35 AH at the age of about 82. The rebels besieged his house in Madina for around 40 days before finally breaking in and killing him while he was fasting and reciting the Quran. He is known as "Dhun-Noorain" (the possessor of two lights) because he married two daughters of the Prophet (PBUH), Ruqayyah (RA) and Umm Kulthum (RA), and he is one of the Ashra Mubashra.
