Quick fact: Prophet Muhammad (SAW) stayed in Ghar-e-Saur (Cave of Thaur) for 3 days during the migration to Madina.

Explanation

During the Hijrah (migration) from Makkah to Madina, the Prophet (SAW) along with Abu Bakr (R.A) took refuge in Ghar-e-Saur to evade the Quraysh who were pursuing them. They remained hidden in the cave for three days, during which Asma bint Abi Bakr (R.A) would bring them food and Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr (R.A) would bring news of the Quraysh's movements. The spider's web and pigeon's nest at the cave's entrance, by Allah's command, helped conceal their presence.

Good to know

Ghar-e-Saur (Cave of Thaur) is located on Mount Thaur, about 5 kilometers south of Makkah. The Prophet (SAW) and Abu Bakr (R.A) entered the cave on the night of their departure and departed on the fourth night, heading towards Yathrib (Madina). This event is mentioned in the Quran in Surah At-Tawbah (9:40), where Allah refers to the Prophet being "the second of the two" when they were in the cave.
