Explanation

Takbeer-e-Tahreema is the opening proclamation of "Allahu Akbar" that marks the beginning of Salah (Namaz). The term "Tahreema" comes from the Arabic root meaning "to make forbidden," as after uttering this Takbeer, all worldly actions like talking, eating, and drinking become prohibited for the worshipper until the prayer ends. It is a fard (obligatory) act of Salah, and without it, the prayer is not considered valid.

Good to know

Takbeer-e-Tahreema is also known as Takbeerat-ul-Ihram. It must be pronounced while standing and facing the Qibla, with the hands raised to the level of the ears or shoulders. The other options are different Islamic terms: Tasmiyah refers to saying "Bismillah," Tashahhud is the testimony recited in the sitting position during Salah, and Takbeer-e-Tashreeq is the Takbeer recited during the days of Hajj after the fard prayers.
