Quick fact: The first son of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) to pass away was Hazrat Qasim.

Explanation

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) had three sons: Hazrat Qasim, Hazrat Abdullah (also known as Tayyab/Tahir), and Hazrat Ibrahim. All of them passed away in infancy or early childhood. Hazrat Qasim was the eldest son, born to Hazrat Khadija (R.A), and he was the first to pass away at a very young age, even before the Prophet's prophethood. The Prophet (S.A.W) was given the kunya "Abul Qasim" (Father of Qasim) after him.

Good to know

The Holy Prophet (S.A.W) had three sons and four daughters, all born to Hazrat Khadija (R.A) except Hazrat Ibrahim, who was born to Hazrat Maria al-Qibtiyya (R.A). Hazrat Qasim passed away at the age of around two years, before the advent of Islam. Hazrat Abdullah also died in infancy, and Hazrat Ibrahim passed away in 10 AH in Madina. The Prophet's kunya "Abul Qasim" remained with him throughout his life in memory of his firstborn son.
