Masjid Zirar was a mosque built by hypocrites (Munafiqeen) near Quba during the Madinan period with the intention of harming the Muslim community and creating division. When the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was returning from the Tabuk expedition, Allah revealed verses in Surah At-Tawbah (9:107-110) exposing their true intentions, and the Prophet ordered the mosque to be demolished and burned.
The incident of Masjid Zirar took place in the 9th year of Hijrah when the hypocrites, led by Abu Amir al-Rahib, constructed a mosque ostensibly for prayer but actually to conspire against Muslims. Verses 107 to 110 of Surah At-Tawbah were revealed concerning this mosque, condemning it as a place built on foundations of disbelief and hypocrisy. The Prophet (PBUH) sent Malik ibn Dukhshum and others to destroy it upon his return from the Battle of Tabuk.
