Explanation

Hajjatul-Wada, meaning the "Farewell Pilgrimage," was the first and only Hajj performed by the Holy Prophet (SAW) after the conquest of Makkah. It took place in the 10th year of Hijrah (632 AD), just a few months before the Prophet's (SAW) passing. During this pilgrimage, the Prophet (SAW) delivered the historic Farewell Sermon at Mount Arafat, which laid down fundamental principles of Islamic social, economic, and moral life.

Good to know

Hajjatul-Wada is a landmark event in Islamic history. The Prophet (SAW) left Madina on the 25th of Dhul-Qa'dah, 10 AH, accompanied by approximately 100,000 to 140,000 companions. During this pilgrimage, the final verse of the Quran was revealed at Arafat: "This day I have perfected your religion for you..." (Surah Al-Ma'idah, 5:3). The Farewell Sermon delivered on this occasion is considered a universal charter of human rights.
