Quick fact: The letter of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) to Heraclius, the Roman Emperor, was delivered by Hazrat Dihyah Kalbi.

Explanation

The Holy Prophet (PBUH) sent letters to various rulers inviting them to Islam after the Treaty of Hudaibiya in 6 AH. Hazrat Dihyah Kalbi (R.A) was specifically chosen to deliver the letter to Heraclius, the Byzantine Emperor, because of his noble appearance and diplomatic skills. Heraclius received the letter with respect and even inquired about the Prophet (PBUH) from Abu Sufyan, who happened to be in Syria at that time. Though Heraclius recognized the truth of the message, he did not embrace Islam due to fear of losing his throne.
