Quick fact: The first person assigned to write down the 'Wahi' (revelation) was Hazrat Khalid bin Saeed (RA).

Explanation

Hazrat Khalid bin Saeed (RA) holds the distinction of being the first scribe of revelation (Kātib-e-Waḥī) in Islam. He embraced Islam very early, being among the first few converts, and was assigned by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to record the divine revelations as they were received. While several companions later served as scribes of the Quran, including Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (RA) who compiled the Quran during the caliphate of Abu Bakr (RA), the very first to be given this responsibility was Hazrat Khalid bin Saeed (RA).

Good to know

Hazrat Khalid bin Saeed (RA) was the son of Saeed bin Al-Aas and belonged to the Banu Umayyah clan of Quraysh. He accepted Islam after the Prophet (PBUH) visited his house, making him among the earliest Muslims (around the 3rd or 4th convert). He also migrated to Abyssinia (Habsha) along with his wife in the first migration. The scribes of revelation were a distinguished group of companions entrusted with preserving the Quran in written form from the very beginning of Islam.
